Formation[edit | edit source]

Past Sweet FA club the Southern Sharks was formed towards the end of Season 06 under the management of ex-Koala Frankston Rover, and competed in Season 07, before entering into a merger agreement with the Dragons.

There was some debate as to whether the formation of this team came at the expense of the single-season Koalas.

Season 07[edit | edit source]

In their one season, the Southern Sharks were quite successful, making the finals before losing in sensational circumstances to the Roys FFC in a Second Semi-Final, due to a 5-goal penalty applied to their scoreline following a team submission error.[1] The Sharks would go on to lose their next match and bow out of the finals.

The Sharks did bring home one league trophy during their short stint, with MCPHEE_IS_A_GUN winning the AlfAndrews Medal for most goals in a premiership season.

Merger With The Dragons[edit | edit source]

After Season 07, a combination of club rationalisation and concerns with player numbers at the Sharks saw them enter into a merger agreement with the Dragons.

While the tenure of the Sharks as a stand-alone entity ended, they would still be represented by the newly formed Southern Dragons, providing the 'Southern' part of the name. This continued until Season 17 when the 'Southern' was dropped from the renamed Dragons FFC, although the latter club still maintain reference to this part of their roots, including a set of initials on their guernseys paying tribute to their origins.

Later Discoveries[edit | edit source]
